Policy Patrol Zip
Email compression at server level
Policy Patrol Zip allows you to compress or decompress email attachments
at server level. Compression rules can be user-based and applied to
incoming or outgoing mail and internal or external messages. By
decreasing the size of emails, Policy Patrol Zip reduces network
congestion and improves employee productivity. In addition Policy Patrol
Zip reduces bandwidth usage and message storage requirements, providing
significant cost savings.
Compression features include:
Compress attachments
Decompress attachments
Internal and external compression
User based rules and permissions
Apply compression rules to certain recipient(s)
Apply compression rules based on code in subject
User licensing
System requirements
Compress attachments
Policy Patrol can compress all attachments, or only attachments of a
certain size or format. Attachments can be compressed into one archive
or into a separate archive for each attachment. Passwords can also be
applied to zip files.
Decompress attachments
Policy Patrol can automatically decompress zip archives to save users
having to unzip attachments themselves. By indicating a maximum
extracted file size, you can prevent attachments becoming too large.
Internal and external compression
Attachments can be compressed and decompressed for external as well as
internal mails (if installed on Exchange Server 2000 or Exchange Server
2003). Since Policy Patrol can distinguish between internally and
externally sent mails, different compression rules can be applied to
each.
User based rules & permissions
Compression rules can be applied to selected users, groups, domains or
public folders and can have user or group exclusions. In addition,
advanced user permissions can be applied to each folder.
Apply compression rules to certain
recipient(s)
By using a domain/email address filter, you can configure Policy Patrol
to only compress, or not to compress when attachments are sent to
certain recipients. Decompression rules can also be configured to
include or exclude certain recipients.
Apply compression rules based on code in
subject
By entering a predefined code in the message subject, users can either
apply compression or choose to exclude the attachment(s) from
compression. By creating a rule that removes the code from the subject,
the recipient will receive the message without the code.
User
licensing
Because Policy Patrol allows you to select which users to enable rules
for, you are not forced to purchase licenses for all your users. If you
only wish to apply compression rules for a limited number of users, you
can simply create a connector that retrieves these users, and you will
only need to purchase licenses for these users.
