If your computer anti-virus is not up to date and you think you may have a
virus on your machine, follow the procedure below to update the virus pattern file and try
to clean the system.
Under normal circumstances your machine's anti-virus should not get out of
date, however it is not impossible, for instance you might work remotely and may not have
manually updated it for some time.
Firstly download the latest pattern file using the appropriate link
(normally the .zip version), into the officescan folder on your computer (see below for
locations), from:
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/pattern.asp
Following that, download the latest system cleaner utility, again into the
officescan folder, from:
http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/tsc/tsc.zip
Unzip the pattern file and tsc.zip and place the contents into the
officescan folder.
Disable Officescan by right clicking the icon in the system tray and
selecting 'Unload Officescan Monitor', you may need a password to do this.
Run tsc.exe by double clicking the file from Windows Explorer, or run it
from the command prompt.
When Trend's System Cleaner has finished, reboot your computer and the
Officescan main window. Using Help\About check the virus pattern is the latest you
downloaded. Run a full scan on all the machine's internal drives.
| Normal Officescan folder locations are: |
Windows 9x machines: |
C:\Program Files\Officescan 95\ |
|
|
Windows 2000: |
C:\Program Files\OfficescanNT
or,
C:\OfficescanNT |
